In Which I Watch Footie? / Saturday, June 10, 2006
Alright, it's been a while since I've posted, and there are too reasons for that. One is I've been very busy, and the other is that I haven't really done much recently. I know that sounds very contradictory but it's true.
Ash and I got our tax return, which was nice. We're saving most of it, but I did splash out a bit and bought a stereo for the car that plays MP3 CDs. I got this one:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ALLJNmEmJmy/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=158GT400 it's very cool, it changes colours and everything. It caused me a bit of stress getting it in, but I dealt with it, after a quick call to the Crutchfield helpline. They're a very good company. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for car stereos. If you do decide to use them then you can use my referral code which is p4q9q9-dyjs7-ay80y and you can save $20. I'd get $20 towards my next order as well, so we'd all be winners!
I cooked some Cornish pasties today. They are the best pasties I've had all year. They're the only pasties I've had all year. They didn't turn out that great. In fact I have the squits now. I'm not going to give up though. I'll get it next time!
Of course I've been watching the footie. England have started off pretty well. I watched all of the games so far apart from Argentina vs. Ivory Coast. I watched that one up until Argentina scored their first two goals and then it got boring. All of the other games have been really good though. I may just be saying that because I'm football starved though... I think I'm going to try and be online after every England match if anyone feels like talking about it. Unless we lose, then we can talk about anything else apart from that! It's lonely watching the footie over here. No one I know really likes it.
I have got into conversations with a couple of blokes about it. One of them really knew a lot about England (the football team - and apparently the country. He must have spent some time over here or something), and the other said "It's got two periods, right?" So he was half way there. I give him points for effort!
Anyhow, I'm now a full time house husband. By the way, that doesn't mean unemployed. I really don't have any time to spare during the day. If I have to go out and run an errand of some sort I have to rush about to catch up. I rarely have much chance to have a shower. It's a really tough job, but the pay is really good. You can't put a price on a smile or laugh from Toby!
Ash is working at the DSS. It's the same company (if you call a state run organization a company) she was working for before we left for Virginia, but it's in a different building. She's temping right now but she has an interview on Tuesday for a job that is two pay levels higher than the last position she had, on the floor below the one she's on right now. The people that she's working for liked her so much that they wanted to get her right into the position. There's two other people going for interviews, but Ash has the advantage of really good references from the people upstairs. So if you could keep Ash in your thoughts/prayers on Tuesday I'd appreciate it.
Toby is doing great, he's 18lb 10oz (or thereabouts), healthy and happy. If you want to read more about how he's doing he has his own blog here:
http://www.tobiaspeter.blogspot.com/ he's trying to keep it up to date, and I have to say his computer skills are very good for a six month old!
One final note to you Americans: If you cheer for England, I'll cheer for the US. Actually it would be nice if you would cheer for the US as well, they don't get very much support here. In fact if you go here :
http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_colbert_report/index.jhtml and click on the GOOOOAAAL Video Stephen sums it up pretty well....
