Not relly much else going on really.

Oh apart from one bit of exctiting news: I'm going to go and see The Police when the come to New Orleans Arena! If that's not exciting enough, I'll be watching them from a suite! With chicks giving me free drinks and pigs in a blanket (by which I mean kind of sausage rolls not actual pigs in a blanket - that would just be wierd!) Not as exciting as the Tobster walking, but pretty darn exciting!

And one other very exciting thing: I'm coming to blighty! Ash, the sproglet and I are going to be over for Daves wedding (that's exciting too if you didn't know that was happening. I get to be best man, which is also exciting!) and We'll be over on that side of the pond from April the 28th until May 13th! Mark your calenders! I'll be spending some of that time in Scotland (that's were Dave is getting married, and it's also where half my family are. More than half really.)

Okay, well after all that excitement I'm going to bed!

In Which I Get A Year Older (Along With Some Other Things) / Friday, February 09, 2007

Yep. I'm an old man of 28 years now. I remember the days... When we used to drive on the left side of the road and the only fast food availible was Burger King and McDonalds... Oh I guess it's still like that in England isn't it!

We went to see our friends in Mississippi for my birthday and we all went to the Hattiesburg Zoo which was nice, not a very big place, but more interesting that a walk in the park. We played in the playground afterwards and Toby went on the slide and the swings. He LOVES both of them. He just can't stop laughing when he's on them. So of course now I will go out of my way if it's a nice day to get him to a playground.

Auntie Marian sent me a $50 gift voucher for amazon, and I decided to funkify my life with it. I got eight CD's Archie and The Bells (just as much oldies as it is funk), Jr. Walker and the Allstars (funky soul - kind of like Booker T and the MG's), The Jimmy Castor Bunch (They did Say Leroy, Your Mama's Callin' and Troglodyte), Tower Of Power (good funky funk with lots of horns, I got a live CD with a 23 minute jam in it!), Charles Wright and the 103rd St Rhythm Band (they did Express Yourself, they're also very cool), Graham Central Station (Awesome! First Time I heard it it was so funky it scared me!), Parliament (This one still scares me - but it's full of funk!), and Bootsy Collins (The bassist from Parliament. It's very amusing... And funky!) So now my life is about 60 or 70% funkified. Well, at least funkified to my personal satisfation.

Anyhow, the big thing that happened over here that no-one in any other country in the world either knows or really cares about is the Superbowl. Honestly America, really very few people in the world care about it. It's really not the Greatest Sporting Event In The World. A little thing called the Olympics? possibly the World Cup (you can choose (real) football, rugby, or cricket and you've got pretty much the whole of the world covered except for the US...) what it is however is the greatest advertising event in the world. So everyone watch this:

That was really the only really funny one this year, but in serching for that one I ran across a couple from last year:

I hope they work. my computer won't play any thing involving the new version of Flash fors some reason that's too techincal for me to know anything about.

While I'm giving you entertaining links that won't work on my computer, here's another one:
http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/

This guy has hundreds of concerts on there that you can listen to for free. I think that he may send you the odd email nagging you to buy a t-shirt every now and again (he hasn't bothered me yet), but it's worth it!

Talking about live music a couple of nights ago I went to see The Lemonheads play at the Parish at The House of Blues. It was very good. Junior League and VietNam were supporting (if you haven't heard of VietNam yet you will do soon) and it was in a tiny place. the smallest venue I've been to since the RBH (that's a small hall in Reading where local bands played and the IDing was lax) there was probably only a couple of hundred people there. The Lemonheads were excellent, but Evan Dando was a little on edge. I think he's a little agraphobic, after an hour and a half he said "I can't do it" and just walked off the stage (he didn't say that into the microphone, but I was standing pretty much right next to the guy) I guess that the herion was a good buffer for that in the old days, now he's clean he actually has to deal with these situations. I guess he was still wasted when I saw him in London a couple of years back because he seemed to handle that situation (where there was 2000 people) better. Not that drugs are the answer! Anyhow apart from him walking off it was a great concert, the best one I've been to in New Orleans. I think next month I'm going to see RJD2 and The Good, The Bad, And The Queen (not at the same time).

Toby is so close to walking it's not funny. He's able to hold onto a finger and walk (and play footie - start 'em young!) and he'll take a step to get to the couch from the coffee table and back, but he just seems to lack that extra bit of confidence in his balance to get the whole walking thing going. He's happiest on his feet though, I must be walking an extra mile or two a day just walking him round the living room!

Works good, Ash is good, and Toby's awake, so I've got to go.

Oh, if anyone cares, the Colts won.
