In Which We Have A House! / Friday, June 29, 2007
Yup, we closed today. It was pretty stressful. Our mortgage advisor told us two hours before we closed that we had to come up with $5500! Shocked? Yes we were! Luckily we had that money, but we were expecting the seller to cover that (that was how it was explained to us when we put in the offer) so we're going to have tighten the purse strings quite a bit.
Apart from that (major) hiccup everything is good. We have to wait three weeks for the furniture to be delivered, so we're not really sure when we're actually going to move in. On one side we've got a furnitureless house, and on the other we've got the crowded condidtions in the Brewer house. Still we don't have to make a decision on that right now. I've got most of our stuff over there, I think I may have to make two or three more trips. Anyhow, that's enough of that. Y'all will have to comeover and have a look at our new pad sometime.
I have a very funny story that one of Ash's mummy friends sent to her, I have to share it because it's so funny! I mean it's really funny, even if you don't really care about kids. By theway, Parker is her little boy. He's about Toby's age.
"Tues I was at my parents' house. Parker was extra hyper and really
getting on everyone's nerves. He kept trying to take Teagan's milk
from her so when she dropped her cup under a chair, I grabbed his
hand and held on so that she could get it before he did.
Well, it took forever for her to get it and he was putting all his
body weight into trying to get free from me. Eventually he started
getting angry so just as I let him go I said, "Oh NO!!!!! Parker,
mommy made that arm longer than the other from pulling on it!!! You
better give me the other arm so I can make them even."
So, he gives me the other arm and seems genuinely concerned LOL
I pull the other arm and as he leaves to go torment the cat I
say, "Parker!!!! Now your arms are longer than your legs!!! I better
pull on those!"
Back he comes and lays on the ground while I "even out" his body.
Next thing I know he is standing in front of me with his pants down
and holding his penis as if to give it to me. I guess he wanted that
longer too LMAO"
Isn't that a funny one? Well anyhow, I've been going at a hundred miles an hour all day and I've got to build two big displays at my Walmarts tomorrow, so I'm going to bed.

In Which I try Out Truck Driving and Decide Against It / Thursday, June 14, 2007
Well I was a truck driver for a day. Here's the reason: With two of us working the truck it took us fourteen and a half hours. Apparently that is an easy day. Most days would be between 16 and 18 hours a day. That wouldn't be so bad apart from getting paid by the day, and overtime is $5.15 p/h (which is a joke) so it pretty much works out that if I worked at Walmart and did a doulbe shift I would get paid more than I would being a truck driver. And they wonder why they can't keep any drivers...
The good news on the job front is that I got a raise. $10 a day extra. So the fact that I completely failed (or they completely failed my expectations) as a truck driver is softened a bit by me doing the same easy job and getting an extra $2,500 a year. So there we go. I'm happy still.
Ash is doing well, she was sick last week but she seems to have recovered ok. Toby is still great, I think he's going to take me to the zoo tomorrow for Fathers Day. We're still waiting for an approval on the mortgage, and thats about it.

In Which A Lot Has Happened (And Is Still Happening) / Monday, June 04, 2007
Wehey! Did you miss me?
Well there's things going on over here... Big and interesting things...
First off, We have put an offer on, and had an offer accepted for a house. Woohoo! It's a loverly little place, just down the road from Joe and Dianne and just down the road from the babysitters. It's 1755 square foot, 4 bedroom, 2 bath. It has a two car garage, a big kitchen with a breakfast area, and its only 8 months old. There's some photos here: http://www.dropshots.com/adspencer . We put in an offer for $189,500 with them paying the $8,500 closing on it and they accepted. We're happy. Now we just have to wait and see if the underwriter will approve us for a mortgage... So keep us in your thoughts/prayers please.
Secondly I'm going to be a truck driver! Wehey! 7up are going to train me up and pay for me to get a class A license. It means more money, which is useful. The downside is that my day will start at 4 in the morning. I'll be finished be 12 though, so that's alright. I've got a 160 page manual I've got to study. I'm going to start riding around in a truck next week (although last week it was this week, so it could be next week next week. It makes sense to me anyhow!)
So there's the good news. The bad news is that Ashley has been sick the last couple of days and I haven't been sleeping too well, but Ash is doing better today and is back to nagging me about stuff, so I think that she's well on the mend... So the good outweighs the bad.
Anyhow, that's about it for right now, sorry it's so short after so much silence. Deal with it!
